Most recent Shonen Jump top 8 decklist analysis[part I]

You can see the top 8 decklists of the most recent Shonen Jump Championship on the right. Now I'll start the analysis:

3 Monarchs Base
1 Diamond Dude Turbo
1 Gadget Base
1 Demise-Insect One Turn Kill
1 Six Samurai Base
1 Rogue Deck

Let's look at the difference between the Monarch Base builds for today:
Only Lazaro Bellido[who finished 2nd] has mained two Card Troopers. A pair of Card Troopers increases the chance to sent Treeborn Frog from your deck to your graveyard, while also granting his Monarch deck to be a little more aggressive.

Furthermore, your opponent won't be using any defensive traps against them, because once they leave the field, you get to draw a card, this will make sure that you'll be able to deal with Dekoichi's and Gravekeeper's Spy which was flipped face-up the last turn.
As an extra, it will also fuel the graveyard, so one doesn't get their hands on a useless Pot of Avarice.
All in all, Card Trooper is surely the reason that Lazaro Bellido got a little further than the other Monarch Base builds.

Hydrogeddon has been used by Philip Anthony, it gives his deck a more aggressive base than the other two, it's surely amazing when you get his effect off, seeing how it will guarantee you with at least one monster which you can use as a tribute for a monarch.

However, he is only running two spell/trap based spell/traps removal, which means that he will have to gamble if the Hydrogeddon will actually hit through. This doesn't look like a very good build to me. Seeing how the rest of his deck is definately build with defense in mind.

Shane Scurry is the only one maining Morphing Jar. This is the biggest advantage getter in the entire format. No other card can get you as much advantage as a correctly used Morphing Jar.
However Shane is also running triple Thestalos The Firestorm Monarch's, which make this choice kind of questionable, do you want to empty their hand then give them a new one? Of course not, but that's not the reason he's running Jar, it's because monarch decks can get pretty terrible hands, a single Morphing Jar flip can save you just those games. That's why I think it's a nice additon to a monarch build.

To round it off:
Run Morphing Jar in monarchs, if you know how to properly use it.
Just run Card Trooper in monarchs, the advantages far outweight the disadvantages.

And that's it for my first article, hope you liked it!
Make sure to check back tomorrow, as I'll continue this analysis.
